Role Overview:
The Tax Manager will oversee and execute the full tax cycle for a diverse portfolio (individuals, partnerships, corporations, S-corps), lead technical planning, and manage a small team during busy season. Responsibilities include driving improvements in tax processes and mentoring staff to ensure exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead preparation/review of federal and multi-state returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, S-corps .
Drive tax planning and research, advising on strategic transactions.
Supervise and mentor 1–3 junior staff or seasonal hires
Lead on-the-job training and internal technical workshops.
Maintain high-quality deliverables, ensuring compliance with tax laws, firm procedures, and deadlines.
Collaborate with client teams to proactively communicate tax strategies and results.
Leverage and help optimize tax tools like UltraTax and Canopy.
Support new business development by identifying cross-sell opportunities and strengthening client relationships.
Qualifications:
CPA (active CA license strongly preferred).
5+ years of public accounting experience (preferably including Big 4 or regional exposure).
Strong technical expertise in individual, partnership, corporate, and S-corp taxation.
Proven multi-state tax knowledge (construction industry is a plus).
Demonstrated experience in staff development and supervision .
Capable of handling high volume and complex clients in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient with tax technology (UltraTax, Canopy, CCH) and advanced Excel skills.
Exceptional client-facing and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
