Power Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to design, build, and maintain high-impact business intelligence solutions. This role focuses on transforming raw data into scalable semantic models, insightful dashboards, and actionable analytics that support business decision-making across teams.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across the full BI stack—from data ingestion and modeling to DAX optimization and end-user reporting. This is a fully-remote position based in a home office.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To - Design, develop, and maintain Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards
- Build and optimize semantic models using star schema and best-practice data modeling techniques
- Write, debug, and optimize DAX measures (time intelligence, rolling metrics, % of total, benchmarks, etc.)
- Develop and maintain Power Query (M) transformations for data ingestion and shaping
- Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL databases, Lakehouse/Delta tables, SharePoint, Excel, APIs, etc.)
- Ensure data accuracy, performance, and scalability across models and reports
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into analytical solutions
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage dataset permissions
- Optimize report performance and refresh strategies
- Document models, measures, and logic for maintainability and knowledge sharing
- Support production issues, enhancements, and ongoing analytics requests
Preferred Qualifications & Skills - Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse, or Delta tables
- Experience with large datasets (millions of rows) and performance tuning
- Familiarity with CI/CD or version control for Power BI artifacts
- Experience supporting analytics in sales, finance, or operations environments
- Consulting or client-facing experience
- Knowledge of Python or Spark is a plus
Tools & Technologies - Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
- DAX, Power Query (M)
- SQL (SQL Server, Azure SQL, or similar)
- Microsoft Fabric / Lakehouse (preferred)
- Excel (advanced formulas, data modeling)
Requirements - 3+ years of experience developing solutions in Power BI
- Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M)
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (fact/dimension tables, relationships, cardinality)
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL
- Experience integrating data from multiple sources
- Strong attention to detail and data validation skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Reliable, trusted dashboards used daily by the business
- Fast, scalable models with clean and understandable DAX
- Clear documentation and consistent modeling standards
- Strong partnership with business users and data teams
