About the Company:
A well-established construction framing company is looking to add a Payroll Manager to their accounting team. Known for delivering high-quality projects and maintaining a strong culture, they are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee all aspects of weekly payroll operations.
Position Overview:
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, AP duties, and HR responsibilities as needed. This role plays a critical function in ensuring compliance with labor laws, union agreements (if applicable), certified payroll requirements, and internal policies. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in weekly payroll and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple moving parts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage end-to-end weekly payroll processing for approximately 350 employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting
  • AP responsibilities will include payments ranging from $500,000 - $1M
  • Additional HR, onboarding, and new hire orientation duties
  • Maintain and update employee records, including job classifications, pay rates, and benefit deductions
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate reports from Sage software
  • Coordinate with HR and field supervisors for onboarding, terminations, PTO tracking, and timecard approvals
  • Process garnishments, deductions, and other wage adjustments as needed
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management, job costing, and audit purposes
  • Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate GL entries and monthly reconciliations
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper internal controls over payroll data
  • Support year-end activities, including W-2 processing and workers’ compensation audits
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2+ years in the construction industry preferred
  • Proficiency with Sage 300 (CRE) or related Sage payroll modules strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in onboarding and HR tasks
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, certified payroll reporting, and construction job costing
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines in a weekly payroll cycle
  • Solid understanding of prevailing wage laws and union payroll (if applicable)
  • Proficient in Excel and able to manipulate payroll data for reporting
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
