Job Description

Huntsville Swim Association (HSA), with over 50 years of excellence in swimming in Huntsville, Alabama, is looking to fill the full-time position of Head Age Group Coach.The position is salaried and offers fully funded Health, vision, and dental insurance, and a retirement fund with a 3% match from the club, a moving stipend, and the opportunity to participate in funded professional development.

 The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport of swimming, a commitment to developing young swimmers in a positive environment, and a strong desire to grow and learn professionally.Previous coaching experience is required, and at least ASCA Level 3 coaches are preferred.

The successful candidate will have earned at least a bachelor’s degree and have demonstrated both strong communication skills and administrative skills. The position requires proficiency with both Windows and Mac software. Knowledge of Team Management systems (i.e. SportsEngine, Commit, etc.) and Hy-Tek systems are required.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens. Candidates must have current certifications including CPR, First Aid, U.S Center for SafeSport training, and Coaches Safety Training.Candidates must also pass a background check from USA Swimming and HSA.

 Duties will include:

• Age group Coordinator
  • Coordinates and leads skill progressions through the age group program
  • Coordinates and leads dryland progressions through the age group program
  • Coordinates and leads nomenclature progressions through the age group program
  • Disperse pertinent information from staff meetings to all age group staff
• 13-14 Age Group coordinator
  • Work with other 13-14 coaches to produce a cohesive swimming and dryland training plan across the age group
  • Work with other 13-14 coaches to produce a cohesive athlete education plan across the age group
  • Work with the 13-14 parent coordinators to create social activities for the age group
• Lead a group of roughly 25-30 13-14 year old’s
  • Practice planning
  • Calendar
  • Meet entries
  • Parent communications
  • Athlete communications
• Lead or assist a HSA Seasonal Group.
• Works with the Head Coach to develop the meet, practice, and administrative calendars for the team
• Works with the Head coach to develop staff education agendas and calendars
• Works with the Head Coach to develop both short and long term team goals
• Coordinates staff travel to away meets
• Work with the Head Coach, Head Masters Coach, and other staff in running and growing the Masters swim Program
• Holds regular office hours at HSA Administrative office
• Other assignments assigned by the Head Coach
